Huge news, little chocolate bar: We’ve teamed up with our friend and all-around pioneering chocolatier Daniel Sklaar at Fine + Raw chocolate in Brooklyn to share three raw chocolate truffle bars. The Hazelnut Truffle Bar is an indulgent take on a classic – blending earthy hazelnuts with deeply rich raw chocolate, the end result being a nutty, creamy truffle bar you might not want to share with even your dearest friends. (Or a better idea, give one to your dearest friends and know that you’ll be able to enjoy your own in piece. We meant to spell it like that.) Each chunky bar is like four individual truffles together in one small—but mega rich—package.
What’s raw chocolate? The cacao is heated gently, not past 150 degrees, rather than roasted. The result is chocolate that’s crazy high in antioxidants with a creamy, dreamy texture that comes from coconut butter blended with hazelnut butter.
Tip of the Tongue:
Raw chocolate actually has a lot of health benefits that surprised even us. (Health benefits aren’t what we typically crave with chocolate, but hey—bonus!) Raw chocolate contains anti-aging antioxidants, lots of them. Like 50x more antioxidants than blueberries. It also contains magnesium, which is essential for healthy bones and—fun fact—is the nutrient most commonly deficient in American diets. Theobromine, which is not a made up word, is also part of this raw chocolate awesomeness, and helps to increase heart function and blood flow. What we’re saying is, eat more raw chocolate, people, your health depends on it.
