We don’t want no scrubs, but please pass this shrub. What’s a shrub? This sweet and acidic drinking vinegar, and 2018 Good Food Awards winner, is made with tart crabapples and heirloom King apples and is spiced with star anise, cinnamon, and black peppercorns, for a tingly tipple that tastes like autumn in a glass. And while it’s incredible served straight, either warm or cold, it’s really raised the bar on fall cocktail mixers. Thanks to Girl Meets Dirt’s ruby-tinted elixir, sugary syrups are officially in big shrub-ble.
Tip of the Tongue
Call us old fashioned, but we can’t think of a better spin on the classic cocktail. Combine 1 oz. of shrub, 1.5 oz. of whiskey and 1 dash of bitters, shake with ice, strain, and garnish with an apple slice!
